Veteran actor Tanveer Jamal passes away in Japan

Well-known Pakistani actor, director and producer Tanveer Jamal passed away in Japan on Wednesday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

In May, Tanveer Jamal was moved to Japan for his cancer treatment for the second time. He was diagnosed with the deadly disease for first time in 2016. But after getting treatment, he was recovered and made a comeback to TV dramas. 

The Tasweer actor, however, fell ill during the shooting of his play Mere Apne. He went to Tokyo for treatment. But the doctors warned him that his condition would be deteriorated if he underwent operation. 

He was 60-year-old. According to sources close to Tanveer Jamal’s family, the cancer had severely damaged his lungs, causing him severe breathing difficulties.

In a 35-year-long career, Jamal has played key roles in prominent dramas including Godfather and Teri Raza.

He made his debut as a director in the drama Junglos, released on PTV in 1990. Soon, Jamal became part of some memorable plays like Jalta Suraj, Janam Jalli, Antha, Babur, Samjhauta, and Jinnah.

The veteran actor had started his own production company in 1993 and ventured into directions.

He starred in dozens of films and drama series, including the mega drama serial 'Godfather.' Similarly, he has directed and produced so many hit series. One of his famous roles is in 'Ab Pember Nahi Aaye Gein.'

Jamal had recently directed the soon-to-be-released film titled 'Japan Connection.'

Speaking exclusively to the media, Jamal said his new project is lovely with an exciting story based on the drug mafia. The film's leading actors are Timur Khan and Myra Khan. The film will also feature Japan's leading businessman and Pak Japan Business Council President Rana Abid Hussain.

Besides acting, Tanveer has an association with the hotel sector. He has worked in Japan for years and also holds Japanese citizenship.

Tanveer Jamal has left behind a Japanese wife and three children.
