Taking notice of the disclosure that some of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation’s (KMC) employees were receiving salaries twice a month, the Sindh Local Government Department has constituted a committee to probe the matter, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

According to the notification issued on Saturday, the committee, headed by the special secretary of local government, would not only go through the record of salaries of the KMC employees but also of the Town Municipal Corporation, and would submit its report within 15 days.

As per the notification, the committee would also summon these employees for the hearing.

It would also review the decision to stop the payment of salaries to the employees.

The matter came to light when the record of salaries being drawn by the KMC employees was digitalized.

As soon as the matter came to the notice of the corporation’s high-ups, the payment of salaries to these employees was stopped.

In this connection, a notification was issued on June 24, 2024.
