Flour Mills Association puts off strike after talks with govt

The deadlock between the Pakistan Flour Mills Association and the government is over, sources said on Saturday.

The FBR chairman and ministers who are part of the government committee met the representatives of the Flour Mills Association.

The strike is not over, it is being postponed for 10 days, Pakistan Flour Mills Association Chairman Asim Raza

Flour Mills Association expressed concerns over the withholding tax and the FBR chairman agreed to abolish it, sources said, adding that the association agreed with the government to postpone the strike.

The government committee summoned the Pakistan Flour Mills Association on Thursday.

The mills have been on strike for the past two days and yesterday the mills' associations held a meeting to continue the protest.

“We will continue with the strike,” said Flour Mills Sindh chapter chairman Chaudhry Amir Abdullah

He added: “The participation of all flour millers in today's meeting showed that that we are united."
