Inflation rises in second week of new fiscal year post-budget approval

Inflation in Pakistan has increased by 0.11 percent in the second week of the new financial year following the approval of the budget, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Friday.


The overall annual inflation rate has now reached 23.33 percent, according to the latest weekly report from the Bureau of Statistics.


The report highlighted that the prices of 23 commodities rose in the past week, while the prices of six commodities fell and 22 remained stable.


Notably, the price of chicken surged by 16.34 percent and powdered milk by 6.07 percent. Fresh milk saw a 1.37 percent increase, and pulses rose by 3.47 percent. Additionally, the prices of dal masoor and dal mash have also seen recent increases.


On the other hand, the Bureau of Statistics reported a significant 19.47 percent decrease in the price of tomatoes and a 2.3 percent drop in banana prices over the past week. The prices of flour, onion, potato, and eggs have also decreased in recent weeks.
