A two-member bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) has granted protective bails to the PTI chairman’s sister Dr Uzma Khan and his brother-in-law Ahad Majeed Niazi in two cases.
The couple has been booked in a corruption case in South Punjab and in connection with May 9 rioting in Lahore.
Reportedly, the Anti Corruption Establishment registered a case against Dr Uzma Khan and her husband for buying land worth Rs6 billion by paying only Rs130 million.
he ACE officials were cited as saying that the total area of land purchased is 5261-kanal.
Authorities said the relatives of the PTI chairman were aware of the project’s commencement in advance.
It also alleged that Uzma and her husband intimidated previous landowners into selling off their assets at rates far below the original price.
The duo then got ownership of land through illegal property deeds. Reports claimed that the land’s previous owners also filed a case.
Another case was lodged against the couple in Lahore in connection with May 9 incidents.
Two cases were registered against the couple and the duo moved LHC Multan Division Bench for the protective bail.
The court granted them bail in two cases till June 19 and June 22.
Taking to Rohi, the couple said bogus cases were being registered against them and they pinned hope upon the judiciary.
According to Ahad Niazi, the case does not stand anywhere so the authorities should take notice of such a political persecution.
Similarly, he added, the case registered in Lahore in connection with May 9 riots is also fabricated.
The two-judge bench consisting of Justice Tariq Saleem Sheikh and Justice Sadiq Mahmood granted the bail.
