The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has launched legal proceedings against the PM aide Ata Tarar as the latter accused the PTI chief of plotting to kill a Supreme Court lawyer Abdur Razzaq Shar in Quetta last week.
According to 24NewsHD TV channel, the PTI initiated legal action on the instructions of the party chairman.
PTI lawyer Barrister Abuzar Salman Khan Niazi sent a notice of 10 billion damages to Atta Tarar for accusing the ex-PM of killing Abdul Razzaq.
The amount received from Ata Tarar will be donated to the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, it is learnt.
Through a legal notice, Atta Tarar has been given 15 days to apologize unconditionally.
Ata Tarar should immediately give up the allegation and withdraw his statement, the legal notice stated, adding that action will be taken against Tarar under the relevant laws including the defamation law for not apologizing and not addressing the accusations.
Addressing a press conference last week, Ata Tarar accused former prime minister Imran Khan of plotting to kill Abdur Razzaq Shar Advocate and stressed the PTI chief would be held accountable for that.
He alleged that Imran, who was already tainted with corruption, now also had 'the blood of a lawyer on his hands'.
He added: “There is no doubt that the ‘target killing’ of a lawyer is a murder of justice. The matter will be fully investigated. Shar’s blood will not go in vain.”
“The reason why the lawyer had been killed was that he had filed a petition in the court seeking action against Imran for committing treason."
The SC lawyer, Sher who filed a petition in the court seeking action against former prime minister under Article 6, was killed in Quetta on Tuesday.
