Intelligence agencies and law-enforcement agencies (LEAs), in a grand operation in Balochistan, have arrested several militants besides foiling their plan to set up Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) centers in the province, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.

Among those arrested is a most wanted commander of the Shura of Khawarij besides other militants who have remained involved in several incidents of terrorism in different parts of the country.

As per initial interrogation from those taken into custody, their network has connections with militants based both inside and outside the country.

It is expected that the militants will leak some important information about their network to interrogators.

The very fact that the LEAs have foiled militants’ plans by arresting their several key commanders speaks in volumes for their professionalism and commitment to enforce the writ of the state.

It merits mention here that incidents of terrorism are on the rise in the country for the last couple of years, especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Balochistan.

And although the LEAs have carried out operations to flush them out, the threat still remains.

Pakistan expected the Taliban to cooperate with it in its war on militancy, but the latter failed to come up to the country’s expectations.
