Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday approved changes to the policy under which the Civil Award, the country’s highest award, is conferred upon people for their achievements, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Under the changes, there will be a complete ban on giving these awards to people whose services are insignificant.

Similarly, now no organization or a federal ministry will be allowed to recommend the name of any blue-eyed boy or favourite for the Award by bypassing the merit.

Before nomination, a committee will ensure that the person whose name has been recommended for the Award does come up to scratch.

A report will be compiled in which there will be a detailed examination of the services rendered by the person whose name has been recommended.

Now ministries and departments will send their recommendations to the cabinet division along with the report.

The Division has sought nominations from the concerned departments by April 30.
