Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has said bringing remarkable improvement in national economy was the key task of the government, adding that Pakistan was keen to seek big financial package from International Monetary Fund (IMF), reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Finance Minister said IMF mission was arriving in Islamabad on Wednesday (today) to hold talks on standby agreement.
He said the bilateral negotiations between Finance Ministry and IMF officials will be held during March 14 to 18.
Finance Minister Aurangzeb further said after the negotiations, IMF will release the remaining $1.1 billion loan to Pakistan.
According to sources, ahead of IMF team’s visit various Federal Ministries and Division have shared their plan with Finance Ministry. While IMF delegation will hold talks with various Ministries’ officials. During bilateral talks, tax recoveries and energy sector’s circular debt issues will be discussed.
It is worth mentioning here that the current IMF loan programme is coming to an end and Finance Minister is also likely to hold talks with IMF mission on new loan agreement worth $8 billion.
