Dollar, euro make further gains against rupee

The US dollar made further gains against the rupee on the third consecutive day as its value went up by 49 paisas in inter-bank rate on Wednesday.

According to the State Bank, the dollar ended the day at Rs160.94 after it was traded for Rs161.06 at one point, which means its value has increased by around one rupee during the past three days.

Meanwhile, the rupee weakened against the euro too, whose value increased to Rs174.47 by gaining 74 points. However, the pound sterling was down by 36 paisas and traded at Rs197.53.

On the other hand, both dollar and euro grew stronger in the open market as well. The dollar was available for Rs161 and euro for Rs173.50 after an increase of 50 paisas each.But the pound sterling shed two rupees and closed the day at Rs198.
