German, British envoys in Pakistan extend Eid greetings

German Ambassador to Pakistan Bernhard Schlagheck extended Pakistanis Eid greetings on behalf of the German Embassy in Islamabad, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

He said, “I wish everyone celebrating today, in Pakistan and around the world, a very happy and blessed Eid-ul-Fitr. May this special occasion be filled with peace, love and joy.”

In a video message the German envoy said, “Last year on Eid, I expressed my hope that we could celebrate usual and very joyful festive Eid-ul-Fitr having overcome dreadful disease. Unfortunately, this hope has not come true entirely. Still, we are struggling with pandemic here in Pakistan, but also in Germany and worldwide.”

“Nonetheless, there is some hope in particular if we follow SOPs and if the vaccination campaign get into full swing now. Despite all that, despite these ongoing restrictions and constraints, Eid-ul-Fitr is a feast of joy, the celebration of confidence of gratitude of solidarity particularly among families,” Ambassador Bernhard said.

British High Commissioner in Pakistan Christian Turner in a bilingual video message on Twitter said, “Eid true happiness is being together with loved ones. COVID have some families close together but It is kept some families apart and no-one is left being untouched. This is the time when friendship is most needed.”

He said, “We are in this together. That is why UK is support Pakistan with vaccines and health assistance. That is why everyone must take care and follow SOPs. That is also, we should look after the nature and keep these beautiful hills clean.”
