One person died and eight were injured in an explosion in the Saddar area of Karachi on Thursday night. Many vehicles have also been destroyed.

According to the 24News HD TV channel, the blast occurred near a coast guard’s vehicle. Rescue teams have reached the spot and shifted injured people to the Jinnah Hospital.
Karachi Police, Rangers and other law enforcement agencies have also reached the spot and started investigations.
Initially, the nature of the blast has not been assessed. Due to the heavy blast, glasses of windows of several buildings shattered. Security officials began gathering evidence on the spot.

Dr Shahid Rasool, Director of Jinnah Hospital has confirmed that eight injured people have been brought to Jinnah Hospital and most of them were injured by ball bearings.

It is being observed that it was a planted bomb blast to hit the Coast Guard's vehicle.
