A missing young girl died at a hospital in Rahim Yar Khan after she was tortured, strangled and stabbed, police said, as Punjab IG Inam Ghani ordered a swift action against the culprits, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.

The gruesome incident was reported in the Chachran Sharif area which falls within the precincts of Zahir Shah Police Station.

Earlier, the 20-year-old victim was found in a serious condition in fields after going missing from her house. She was rushed to the hospital where she succumbed to her wounds a day later.

According to sources at Shaikh Zayed Hospital, the cause of death was strangulation and there were torture marks too on different parts of her body.

On the other hand, police said the killers first strangled the girl before stabbing her multiple times. However, they added, the post-mortem report would reveal exact facts and further progress was to be taken after that as a case had already been registered against three persons.

Meanwhile, the Punjab police chief took notice of the issue, directing the Rahim Yar Khan RPO (Regional Police Officer) to submit a report on the murder. 

Ordering strict action against the accused, Inam said justice must be provided to the victim’s family.
