A Wapda contractor on behalf of the Chinese Gezhouba Group Corporation has demanded $70.60 million from the Government of Pakistan as fine after the company had to stop work and sustain financial loss in the wake of Dasu bomb blast in which a number of Chinese and Pakistani engineers were killed, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Sources in the interior ministry on Saturday informed that a Wapda contractor on the request of Chinese Gezhouba Group Corporation demanded prompt payment of damages amounting to $70.60 million from Pakistan government.

The company claimed that it had to suffer a loss of millions of rupees due to closure of work on the dam project following the terror attack. Ten Chinese and four Pakistani engineers and workers were killed in the blast.

However, the ministry for water and power replied that there is no clause of paying damages found in the Dasu Hydro Project agreement in case of terror incident.
