Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid leader Chaudhry Shafay Hussain expressed determination to elevate the national Kabaddi team at national and international levels, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.
He was chairing a meeting of the Pakistan Kabaddi Federation (PKF)’s general council here on Sunday.
The meeting resulted in significant decisions, including the establishment of the Selection and Discipline Committee, with representatives from various sectors such as the Pakistan Army, Navy, Air Force, WAPDA, Railways, Sindh, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Islamabad, Higher Education Commission, and Pakistan Olympics in attendance.
The meeting also analyzed the Punjab Kabaddi Association's Executive Committee. A three-member management committee was formed. Riaz Masood Kharel will be head of the committee and Rana Ali Abbas, President of the Kabaddi Association Faisalabad, and Muhammad Faheem, President of the Kabaddi Association Lahore will be its member. This committee will function until the next election.
Chaudhry Shafay Hussain declared that the Islamabad High Court has ruled in favor of the Pakistan Kabaddi Federation, and the Pakistan Sports Board has informed the opposing party via letter, circulating copies of the correspondence and decision to all members.
Hussain emphasized that Kabaddi affairs will now be conducted with utmost order and control.
He vowed to elevate the Kabaddi at national and international levels, attributing its resurgence to Chaudhry Zahoor Elahi and taking personal responsibility from Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, which he aims to fulfill more effectively.
Hussain added that he does not believe in recommendations but in players' abilities, highlighting that no government took Kabaddi seriously except during the Muslim League Q's tenure, when Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain's efforts led to funding for the Kabaddi Federation.
Hussain further recalled the successful organization of the Kabaddi Premier League and World Cup at the Punjab Stadium in February 2020, where Pakistan defeated India.
The participants of the meeting praised Chaudhry Shafay Hussain's efforts and expressed full confidence in his leadership.
