Justice Arshad Hussain formally assumes charge as caretaker KP CM

Newly-appointed caretaker Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Justice (retd) Syed Arshad Hussain Shah formally assumed charge of his office in Peshawar on Monday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Upon his arrival at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, the senior officials welcomed him, while a police contingent presented him a guard of honour.

The chief minister held an introductory meeting with the staff of the secretariat where he was briefed about the affairs of the Chief Minister’s Secretariat.

Meanwhile, caretaker Federal Minister for Information, Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs Murtaza Solangi on Monday called KP CM Justice Arshad Hussain and discussed with him the upcoming elections, cooperation in the media sector and other important issues including the problems of the journalists.

During a telephonic talk, he congratulated Arshad Hussain Shah on assuming the charge of caretaker KP chief minister.

Justice Arshad Hussain had taken oath of his office on Sunday night. KP Governor Haji Ghulam Ali administered the oath to the newly appointed caretaker Chief Minister during an impressive ceremony here at Governor House.

Earlier, Syed Arshad Hussain Shah was appointed as caretaker CM KP by the Governor after a consensus on his name was reached between former Chief Minister Mahmood Khan and ex-opposition leader Akram Durrani at the Chief Minister’s house under the constitution.

He was appointed after the death of former caretaker Chief Minister Azam Khan.

Arshad Hussain had earlier served as caretaker Law Minister, Chief Justice of Gilgit Baltistan court and judge of Peshawar High Court.
