Punjab police decided to use drone technology against criminals, dacoits, terrorists and miscreants, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
In this regard a delegation from Wah Industries Limited comprising Chief Technical Officer Brig ® Khurram Qadri, General Manager Sales, Sajid Mehmood, Senior Manager Operations Sheikh Abdul Wahab held a detailed meeting with Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Dr Usman Anwar in his office in Lahore.
A police spokesman said that drone technology will be used against dacoits of Katcha area and terrorists in hiding in mountain and populated areas.
During their visit, the delegation briefed Inspector-General of Punjab police about drones and their functions.
Police spokesman said that Inspector-General of Police said that latest technology must be adopted for operations against terrorists and dacoits.
On this occasion personnel of Punjab police showed keen interest in adopting latest surveillance and monitoring system through drone technology.
IG Punjab said that drone equipped with ammunition and capability to shoot down technology will play vital role in operations against terrorists and criminals.
Dr Usman Anwar said that through drone technology movements and activities of terrorists and miscreants will be monitored while surveillance through air and traffic management and law and order situation will also be streamlined.
Additional Inspector-General Logistics, Additional Procurement Imran Mehmood, Deputy Inspector-General of Police Operations Waqas Nazir, Assistant Inspector-General Development and Logistics Sahibzada Bilal Umar, Assistant Inspector General Procurement Karar Hussain also attended the meeting.
At the conclusion of the meeting IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar presented a book titled “Thanay Punjab Day’ highlights upgradation of police stations in Punjab to the visiting delegation.
