Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) Chairman Masroor Khan has said that country’s dependence on the imported LNG has been increased when compared it to the situation five years ago, reported 24NewsHD.

The Ogra chairman said that the SNGPL asked Ogra to increase prices by 154 percent but the authority raised it only by 14 percent.

MQM leader Kishwar Zehra chaired a meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee at Cabinet Secretariat where chairman Ogra briefed the committee members about the LNG (Liquefied natural gas).

The chairman said that Ogra sets the price of natural gas twice a year. He said, “Five years ago, we did not import gas and now the country’s dependence on the imported gas has increased.”

Mr Masroor Khan further informed that the Ogra determines the price of LNG at the beginning of every month as per the Petroleum Act, 1961.

Standing committee member Ghulam Ali Talpur asked, “Who bears the burden of those who do not pay the bill,” on which the Ogra chairman answered that the burden falls on those who pay the bill. Talpur alleged that Ogra people were involved in gas theft otherwise stealing was not possible.
