Former police inspector and notorious 'encounter specialist' Abid Boxer, who was arrested for alleged threats against police officers, has managed to escape from police custody, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Friday.

According to police sources, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) CIA Iqbal Town, Muhammad Ali Butt arrested Abid from his residence in Model Town, Lahore.

He was wanted by the police for intimidation of senior police officers.

However, Abid Boxer managed to evade custody during his transportation from Model Town to the CIA Allama Iqbal Town. Abid's armed guards and employees are still in police custody.  

Abid Boxer had been involved in dozens of extrajudicial killings during his police service.

His family has raised allegations, claiming that his arrest and subsequent escape raise questions and uncertainties about the case.

Abid’s family also expressed concerns about his blocked mobile number.
