Former prime minister Shehbaz Sharif has said his brother Nawaz Sharif will bring prosperity to Pakistan, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Thursday.
Political stability is vital to put an end to economic instability, he said while talking to traders.
Shehbaz recalled toppling Nawaz's government through martial law though, according to him, the country was on track to progress and prosperity.
The CPEC brought development in Pakistan in the Nawaz regime, he said, adding that the Metro project brought a revolution to the transport sector.
Had there been no Ring Road, the traffic situation in Lahore would have been so bad, he maintained.
The PML-N president stressed that he preferred saving the state to protecting the politics.
“Putting our politics at stake, we saved Pakistan though we have a way of saving our politics by putting the state at stake.
The state is saved … politics will also be saved. The politics will be buried, if the state is not saved.”
The former prime minister listed his government’s feats, saying: “We did not care about politics when we were in power for 16 months.”
He recalled the PTI chief’s campaign against the Sharif family."Abusive language was used [against us]. The society was polarised. But in order to move forward, we need to end this divide."
Nawaz is all set to return to Pakistan on October 21 and the PML-N is gearing up to welcome him warmly.
