Pakistan State Oil (PSO) continues to suspend fuel supply to Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) over non-payment of more than Rs26 billion worth of pending dues on the second consecutive day, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.
“The PIA promised to pay Rs750 million today, but no money has been transferred to the bank,” the PSO sources said.
“The PSO provided 842,000 litres of jet fuel worth Rs22 million to the PIA every day during the month of October,” they added.
It is to be noted here that the PSO had suspended fuel supply to the PIA over non-payment of pending dues.
It is learnt that the schedule of several PIA flights has been affected due to the suspension of fuel supply by the PSO.
However, the PIA spokesperson claimed that only two domestic flights had been affected due to the fuel shortage.
“Some flights are delayed due to the imbalance in aircraft traffic,” he added.
