Medicines for diabetes, BP, heart diseases become more 17pc expensive

Prices of the medications of diabetes, blood pressure (BP) and cardiac medicines have been increased 17 per cent in the market, 24News HD TV channel reported on Monday.

According to the details, the prices of medicines have been increased by the reason of rising in the rates of US dollar against the Pakistani currency recently.

The price of insulin under the name of Insulated used for diabetic patients had gone up by Rs50 and it was available in the market with the new price of Rs806.

Another insulin in the name of Mixtard has also become expensive of Rs67 and its new rates are Rs763.

The pack of 20 tablets of 50 milligrams available in the market in the name of “a2a” has gone up by Rs55 and its new price is Rs457 per pack.

According to wholesalers, medicines have become up to 200 per cent expensive under the present regime. They said the dollar rates were high so imported medicines had become more expensive.

They suggested the government that the government should increase the production of medicines at the local level to control the prices.
