Punjab's Chief Minister has ordered a strict crackdown on the transportation of illegal weapons across the province, prompting a surge in security measures and monitoring.

The provincial police have been instructed to curb the flow of banned weapons, including rocket launchers and hand grenades, which continue to circulate despite previous efforts.

The number of checkpoints has been increased to 132, with enhanced surveillance at 69 internal and external points on motorways. Additional personnel have been deployed, and officers at checkpoints will be equipped with body cameras for better monitoring.

In line with the Chief Minister's directive, the Special Branch will prepare detailed reports on road performance, while the Inspector General (IG) of the Police ensures strict implementation of the new measures.

Authorities are intensifying efforts to identify the sources and suppliers of these illegal weapons in Punjab.
