An exchange of fire occurred between the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and terrorists from Fitna-ul-Khawarij in Dera Ghazi Khan, 24NewsHD TV Channel reported on Friday.
According to the channel report, during the heavy gunfight with the CTD team, two terrorists were killed, while two managed to escape.
A CTD police spokesperson stated that the operation was intelligence-based and aimed at arresting the terrorists.
However, the terrorists opened fire on the CTD team, which led to a firefight.
Notably, the two Khawarij terrorists were killed by the crossfire from their own comrades.
The CTD recovered hand grenades, two rifles, bullets, and explosive materials from the terrorists' hideout.
It was revealed that the terrorists had completed planning attacks on sensitive installations.
A search operation is ongoing to apprehend the escaped terrorists, with CTD teams setting up blockades on Quetta Road and adjacent highways.
The CTD spokesperson said the identification process of the deceased terrorists is currently underway.

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has applauded Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) for foiling a terror plot in Dera Ghazi Khan.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi congratulated CTD Punjab on the successful intelligence-based operation against the terrorists of Fitnah Al-Khawarij.
In his statement, Mohsin Naqvi said that CTD Punjab carried out a timely successful operation and killed two terrorists of Fitnah Al-Khawarij.
CTD Punjab foiled the sabotage plan in DG Khan through intelligence based operation in a very professional manner, Mohsin Naqvi said.
“I congratulate the entire team of CTD Punjab for destroying the evil ambitions of the terrorists of Fitnah Al-Khawarij”, Mohsin Naqvi added.
The Interior Minister said that CTD Punjab has always thwarted the nefarious ambitions of the terrorists of Fitnah Al-Khawarij.
