Pakistan captain Babar Azam Friday won the toss and elected to bat first in the first Twent20 of five-match series against New Zealand at Gaddafi Cricket Stadium in Lahore.

The match marked the 100th T20 international for the Pakistan captain who debuted his international T20 career on September 07, 2016 against England at Manchester.

Moreover, on April 14, 2021, Babar Azam hit 122 off 59 balls against South Africa in Centurion - the highest individual score for Pakistan in T20Is.

Pakistan have an excellent recent T20I record against the Black Caps, having won four of their last five encounters.
