As many as 10 militants have been arrested in 189 intelligence-based operations (IBOs) carried out by the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) in different cities of Punjab during the last week in view of fears of terrorist attacks in the province, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.
According to the spokesman for the CTD, operations were carried out in Lahore, Bahawalpur, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala and Jhelum districts.
Giving further details, the spokesman said that two terrorists namely Badal Singh and Sooraj Singh were arrested from Rawalpindi. “Both belonged to Nankana Sahib,” he said, and added, “Others who were taken into custody included Siraj, Hidayatullah, Deedar Hussain, Sadaqat Hussain, Suleman Khan and Zaid.”
He informed that explosive material, 16 detonators, pamphlets and cash were recovered from them.
He went on to say that 263 suspected persons were arrested in 2053 combing operations conducted during the ongoing week. “As many as 82,473 persons were questioned.”
