Pakistan’s National Assembly on Monday unanimously passed a resolution strongly condemning Israel’s “heinous wave of atrocities” in Gaza.
The resolution expressed solidarity with the Palestinian people and called for an immediate and lasting ceasefire, 24NewsHD TV reported.
Gaza’s health ministry reported that at least 1,574 Palestinians have been killed since March 18, when a fragile ceasefire between Hamas and Israel collapsed. This brings the total death toll since the conflict began in October 2023 to 50,944.
The resolution, introduced by Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar in the lower house of parliament, denounced the recent Israeli offensive for causing extensive civilian casualties and the widespread destruction of Gaza’s infrastructure, including homes, hospitals, schools, and places of worship.
The resolution reiterated the National Assembly’s condemnation of Israeli actions and reaffirmed “unwavering solidarity” with the Palestinian people, supporting their right to self-determination and an independent state.
The statement also criticized the international community’s failure to stop Israeli aggression and called for an urgent, comprehensive ceasefire. It demanded sustained and unhindered humanitarian aid for Palestinians in Gaza.
Information Minister Attaullah Tarar emphasized the unity of the Pakistani nation on the issue of Palestine, noting that Pakistani passports prohibit travel to Israel—a reflection of the country’s longstanding policy. Pakistan does not maintain diplomatic relations with Israel and has consistently condemned its military operations in Gaza.
Islamabad continues to advocate for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
