Pakistan scholar and foreign affairs expert Muhammad Mehdi has termed Palestine-Israel diplomacy a big flop, saying if such endeavour has fallen short of producing any tangible result, why it is being brainstormed repeatedly.
He was speaking on global gathering of Palestine Contact Group held in Anatolia Diplomacy Forum in Turkey. Raising his question, he asked “do we have some other ways or tools to address the issue.” He expressed perturbation on Syrian turmoil and added “did we mishandle it”.
“Did we try to unite all Muslims or play a role in disintegration. Do we carve out a situation through which Muslim countries may get unified or form an effective group in order to influence the US’s Palestine policy. Regarding spate of protests being held in the US and Europe, did Muslim nations try to intervene. And are all resolutions passed in favour of Palestine so impactful to force Israel to step back,” he raised question in his speech.
He claimed that diplomatic efforts have already gone back to square one, so more strenuous bids are bound to get doomed.
Anyhow, he applauded the gathering of Palestine Contact Group held in Anatolia Diplomacy Forum in Turkey and gave full credit to Turkey President Tayyip Erdogan for its success saying that it helped to thrash out comprehensive dialogue on Palestine issue in true letter and spirit and top of them it became a forum that made sit together leaderships of Russia and Ukraine under one roof.
On the sidelines of the Form, a meetup was held among Pakistan scholar and foreign affairs expert Muhammad Mehdi, Palestine PM Muhammad Mustafa and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.
On the occasion, Muhammad Mehdi said as to why diplomacy went in vain on the issue of Kashmir, Palestine and Cyprus. Palestine PM billed rigid obstinacy of Israel as main cause to make a botch in Palestine crisis. “Even if we step forward toward solution, Isreal ruins all by one and another spiteful insidiousness,” he added.
Turkish FM Hakan Fidan paid high gratitude to Muhammad Mehdi for attending the Forum and said that this year it shifted into another gear as participants number swelled staggeringly.
