Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir will address the historic Overseas Pakistanis Convention being held in Islamabad, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Over 1,500 overseas Pakistanis from 80 countries, who have been given the status of state guests, are participating in the convention being held at Convention Centre in Islamabad.
Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF), an attached department of Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development (OP&HRD), was organizing the four-day International Convention of Overseas Pakistanis from April 13 to April 16, 2025. Main theme of this event was “Proud Pakistanis, Stronger together”.
Ayaz assures steps for welfare of overseas Pakistanis
Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz has assured to take steps for the welfare and facilitation of overseas Pakistanis.
Addressing the 1st Overseas Pakistanis Convention in Islamabad on Monday, he emphasized that there should be strict punishment for those who grab the land of overseas Pakistanis. He said legislation in this regard can be enacted after consultations within the relevant ministries. He said the provincial governments will also be contacted on the matter.
Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said overseas Pakistanis are the country's ambassadors and they are excelling in different fields. He mentioned that the remittances sent by expatriates strengthen our economy. He said online platforms should be developed so that Pakistani expatriates are not required to visit the embassies.
Pakistan's envoys from different countries also addressed the convention.
Tarar lauds overseas Pakistanis
Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has acknowledged the contributions of overseas Pakistanis to the economic development and progress of the country.
In a televised video message, Tarar said the Overseas Pakistanis Convention was being held in Islamabad to honour expatriate Pakistanis for their achievements and contributions to the nation.
He emphasized that the state of Pakistan recognizes and values the role of overseas Pakistanis.
Referring to them as the pride of the nation, he highlighted that they send remittances worth billions of dollars every year.
Tarar said overseas Pakistanis arriving from abroad are being warmly welcomed at the convention. He further said under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's leadership, Pakistan's economy has improved over the past year and expressed confidence that the country will continue to progress in the future.
Overseas’ delegation visits Lok Virsa
A high-level delegation of overseas Pakistanis participating in the Overseas Pakistanis Convention in collaboration with the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation visited Lok Virsa.
Special arrangements were made by the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting for a grand welcome at Lok Virsa.
Overseas Pakistanis were warmly welcomed to the Lok Virsa with the beat of drums and regional folk music.
Parliamentary Secretary for National Heritage and Culture Farah Naz Akbar welcomed the distinguished guests on their arrival at Lok Virsa.
