An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Lahore has awarded jail terms to three accused in the high-profile honey-trap and kidnap-for-ransom case involving renowned playwright Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Pronouncing the reserved verdict on Monday, ATC Judge Arshad Javed acquitted other eight accused in the case who were Hassan Shah, Tanveer Ahmad, Qaisar Abbas, Rasheed Ahmad, Falak Sher, Mian Khan, Yasir Ali and Javed Iqbal.

The three convicts – Amina Arooj, Zeeshan Qayyum and Mamnoon Haider – received seven-year jail sentence each.

The court had reserved its decision in Qamar’s kidnapping case, with the verdict scheduled to be delivered on April 14.

Qamar’s lawyer had formally requested that the accused be sentenced to death.

Khalil-ur-Rehman had been abducted in July last year and the prosecution said that Amina Arooj lied to him while calling the famous playwright to her flat where he secretly filmed him and then abducted him for ransom.
