The United States has greeted Pakistan on the latter’s 73rd anniversary of Independence and reiterated resolve to fortifying bilateral ties to achieve shared goals.

In a video message on the eve of Pakistan’s Independence Day Thursday, US Ambassador Paul Wayne Jones congratulated the people of Pakistan on behalf of the people of America and the US Mission in Islamabad.

The top diplomat starts the speech by saying Assalam-o-Alaikum and concluded by saying Pakistan Zindabad. Jones shed light on the importance of Washington’s ties with Islamabad for peace and prosperity in the region and the world.

Much to celebrate

We, as Americans, understand the significance of this day. Both of our countries were born out of the desire for freedom and self-determination. Pakistan has much to celebrate and be proud of as a sovereign, Independent country.

Healthcare support

Over these past few years, the United States and Pakistan have found that we need each other now more than ever, for the health and prosperity of our peoples.  Our US-Pakistan health partnership against coronavirus is training healthcare workers, setting up mobile labs, supporting refugees and their host communities, supporting refugees and providing new ventilators to public hospitals. To rebuild prosperity in these difficult times, we are suspending debt repayments, supporting emergency IMF funding and collaborating to expand trade and investment.

Peace partnership

And together, we are pressing for a negotiated peace in Afghanistan to end the war and bring stability and prosperity to this region. We are proud to partner with Pakistan because when Pakistan thrives, the world is a better and safer place. I wish robust health, success, peace and well-being to all the people of Pakistan.

Pakistan Zindabad!
