Taking notice of the news of 24 News, the Rawalpindi district administration amended its order and lifted a ban on Independence Day celebrations but Section 144 will remain imposed for any other gatherings.
As per the new orders issued by the Rawalpindi administration on Sunday, events and gatherings organized in connection with Independence Day will be exempted from the ban under Section 144.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, the change in the order has been made due to the Independence Day celebrations across the country.
This exemption will be applicable to official and public events and gatherings in connection with the Independence Day celebrations in Rawalpindi.
The purpose of the change in the decree is that citizens can celebrate independence with national spirit.
Earlier today, Section 144 was imposed within five kilometers radius of Noor Khan Air Base and New Islamabad International Airport and this will remain in force till August 19 next.
During this period, pigeon flying, kite flying, drone flying and the use of laser light will be banned.
Rawalpindi Deputy Commissioner (DC) Hasan Waqar Cheema has also issued a notification in this regard.
According to the notification, pillion riding, rallies, gatherings, processions, loudspeakers and display of weapons will also be banned.
