Earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan has tasked Punjab Governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar to somehow halt the resignations of the PML-N’s national and provincial lawmakers, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday, quoting sources.
In a meeting, Prime Minister Imran Khan asked the Punjab governor to initiate contacts with the League members. He also directed him to persuade the League members to join the PTI.
The prime minister also asked the governor to offer them tickets in by-elections if they join the PTI.
According to the sources, Governor Sarwar will launch his mission by first contacting those PML-N legislators on whom he has some influence or are close to him.
Convince them not to hand over their resignations to the party chief, Sarwar was asked, said the sources.
The governor was asked to at least persuade them to prolong the issue as long as they could, the sources disclosed. If they join PTI they would be offered tickets for their own constituencies if by-elections are held, the sources elaborated on the task given to Governor Sarwar.
