The paper mill owners turned into a mafia and increased the price of paper by 100 percent within one year.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, the paper mills on Wednesday increased the price of paper by Rs25 per kilogram to Rs250 per kg.
The channel report said the paper was trading at Rs 125 per kg a year ago but it has doubled now after the new increase in the cost.
Due to the high cost of paper, the prices of copies, registered books, and books have become beyond the reach of the poor.
Urdu Bazaar Traders Association General Secretary Javed Iqbal said that paper mills have increased prices.
Javed Iqbal said that the Punjab government should make a mechanism to fix the prices of paper, otherwise the child of the poor will be deprived of education.
Traders of Urdu Bazaar said if the Punjab government does not take this matter seriously, they will have no option but to come to the streets.
