The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Wednesday rejected the appeal of a person against his conviction in a drug peddling case, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The court upheld the sentence of the accused, identified as Hanif alias Pankha, who had been arrested by the police on May 21, 2021 from Nazimabad area, Karachi.
The police had recovered 350 grams of heroin from him and booked him on the charge of selling heroin in the area.
The trial court had convicted him for the crime, sentencing him to one year and seven months in prison and fining him Rs13,000.
Smuggling bid foiled in Khyber
Khyber police recovered a huge quantity of drugs in an operation.
At least 96 kilograms of opium and 25 kilograms of hashish were seized during the operation.
The drugs were being smuggled in sacks. There also occurred an exchange of fire between the police and the drug smugglers.
The police registered a case against the drug smugglers and started investigation.
A heavy-handed crackdown is underway in the district against the drug smugglers and their facilitators, police sources said.
