Jamiat Ulema Islam (JUI) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said the matter of Afghan voters should be investigated and the Election Commission of Pakistan should look into the matter.

"It is not a big deal if the elections are delayed," he said while talking to a private TV channel.

He added: “The JUI has been a victim of terrorism but standing firm on its principle stance.

“ Our party members and workers have been making sacrifices daily in Dera Ismail Khan, Tank, Bannu and South Waziristan.

“ The number of Bajaur tragedy martyrs surged to 80. Despite all odds, we have been saying that we want elections.

“ We want elections, but we want transparent elections. We did not know about the issue of Afghan voters.

“The revelations made by former president Asif Ali Zardari raised our eyebrows.

He continued: “We are sensitive people. We think the matter should be probed and the election commission to fix it to ensure transparency.

“People don't exercise their right to vote there, so who casts their votes? The last elections were manipulated through such acts.

“If the votes of Afghan citizens have been registered, this has become an issue that needs investigation.”

About the coalition after the election, he said the JUI is ready for a coalition government with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz while there are no talks with the Pakistan People’s Party.
