Bollywood superstar Sonu Nigam has just cleared the air with Pakistani singer Omer Nadeem.
After the singer accused Sonu of copying his song, the star responded to Omer’s post with an apology and extremely modest comments.
The ‘Aey Khuda’ singer took to his Instagram handle and shared his heart whelming conversation with Sonu.
Here is the conversation between the singers:
Sonu: Just so you all know, I have nothing to do with this. I was requested to do the song by KRK (Kamaal R Khan) who is my neighbor in Dubai. And then couldn't refuse him, even though I don't sing for everyone.
If I had heard Omer's version, I would have never sung it.
Omer agreed with Sonu and replied: I agree with you, I never mentioned in my statement anywhere that you did this. The news took a different turn like it always does. I've grown up listening to your songs and have learned a lot from you. I am your huge fan. Love you!
As far as the 'actual characters' involved in this drama are concerned, they're not even on my radar. Mentioning them would be like giving a goldfish a lecture on quantum physics - pointless - and they wouldn't get it anyway. I'd just keep the focus on things that actually matter.
However, the conversation didn't end there. Sonu praised Omer that he sang better than him, apologized for not listening his song before as it is truly a great one and gave best wishes to him.
Here are the exact words of Sonu:
“aapne isey mujhse achcha gaya tha tabhi bhi.. sorry mene aapka gaana ni suna tha. Ab suna. Kya behtareen gaana hai aur apnay definitely mjhsy acha gaaya hai.. Keep it up…More blessings to you. InshAllah isse aapko aur izzat milegi... Lots of love and prayers."
To this Omer responded in such a humble way, showed immense respect towards him and praised that right now there is no singer more melodious or versatile than Sonu.
Netizens applauded Sonu Nigam's humble gesture, noting that despite his celebrity, he apologized publicly, which means a lot.
One of the social media users commented:
“U can't get better credit than this when the greatest singer of this subcontinent praises u and what humble person who apologized openly after being such a big artist.”
Earlier the credits for Sun Zara included no reference to Omer or his record label, even though the video had received over two million views in the four days since it was released, which heightened the claims of plagiarism.
As a result, even though he was a huge fan of Sonu's work, Omer took to Instagram and shared a post in which he combined the videos of both songs and wrote a paragraph in which he responded to plagiarism. The singer stated that he doesn't mind if something like this happens at this point, but they should at least credit him when they copy his song.
