The government's debt reached a new level, the State Bank of Pakistan said on Tuesday.
By December 2023, the total debt of the federal government hit Rs65,188 billion, the central bank said, adding that in one year, the total debts of the government increased by Rs14,130 billion
It added by December 2022, the federal government's total debt was Rs51, 58 billion and from December 22 to December 23, local government debt increased by Rs9,409 billion.
As of December 23, the government debt reached Rs42, 587 billion and as of December 22, the loan was Rs33, 178 billion, while as of December 23, the government's external debt reached Rs22,600 billion.
