The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has submitted a written reply in the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in the foreign funding case said that the appointed agents in the U.S. were allowed to receive funds from unprohibited sources as per the instructions of the party chairman, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) is investigating allegations of foreign funding to PTI against alleged sources and the PTI was asked to submit a reply to ECP's scrutiny committee, the TV channel reported.
“The overseas agents were allowed to receive funds from unprohibited sources only and the agents submitted an affidavit stating that the funds were collected in accordance with the PTI fund policy,” PTI said in the written reply.
The PTI in the written reply confirmed about receiving funding from the PTI-USA LLC.
“All funds collected from people of Pakistani origin aboard were sent through the banks,” the TV channel report quoting the PTI reply submitted.
However, PTI founding member, petitioner in the foreign funding case against PTI, Akbar S. Babar said now PTI is accusing its agents for the illegal funding, the TV channel reported.
Akbar S Babar had filed a case against the PTI in November 2014 and alleged that the party committed massive financial irregularities in handling of foreign funding to the tune of nearly $3 million.
