The second relief convoy carrying essential supplies for the crisis-hit Kurram district departed from Thall on Tuesday, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.
The convoy comprises 40 trucks loaded with food items, medicines, gas cylinders, and other necessities to assist the affected residents of Parachinar.
According to sources, 160 trucks had been waiting for clearance in Tull and Hangu for two weeks due to security concerns.
With the recent improvements, 40 trucks from Thall proceeded under tight security. Helicopters also provided aerial monitoring to ensure the convoy's safe passage.
It is notable that the first aid convoy, originally planned for January 4, faced delays after an attack on the Deputy Commissioner's vehicle in the Bagan area.
A daytime curfew was imposed on the main highway, delaying the convoy’s departure. The first relief caravan, carrying dozens of trucks loaded with essential items, eventually reached Kurram on January 8 under helicopter surveillance.
On January 10, a second convoy of 35 trucks was prepared to leave but was postponed due to cold weather and ongoing security challenges.
Now, with security measures in place, the second convoy carrying 45 vehicles is scheduled today to deliver relief supplies to Parachinar, bringing much-needed aid to the affected population.
