The government has issued a notification announcing an increase in the basic electricity tariffs for commercial, agricultural, and bulk consumers, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

According to officials, this move aims to address the rising costs of electricity generation and distribution.

For commercial consumers, the basic electricity tariff has been raised by Rs. 8.04 per unit.

With this hike, the maximum per unit tariff for commercial users will reach Rs. 77.15.

This significant increase is expected to impact businesses across various sectors, adding to their operational costs.

Agricultural consumers are also facing a substantial increase, with the basic tariff rising by Rs. 6.62 per unit.

Consequently, the maximum per unit tariff for agricultural users will now be Rs. 46.83.

This change is likely to affect the agricultural sector, potentially leading to higher production costs for farmers.

The basic electricity tariff per unit for general services has been increased by Rs.6.98.

The maximum per unit tariff for general services will now be Rs. 61.03, impacting various service providers who rely heavily on electricity.

Bulk consumers will see a rise of Rs. 5.51 per unit in their basic tariff, with the maximum per unit tariff reaching Rs. 59.96.

This increase will affect large-scale users such as industrial complexes and large residential colonies.

However, there is some relief for industrial consumers, as the basic electricity tariff for them will remain unchanged.
