Police in Shikarpur have secured the release of four persons from the captivity of dacoits following an encounter in the katcha area, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.
Briefing the media, SP Shahzeb Chachar has said that those recovered are Muhammad Umar Qureshi, Muhammad Asif Qureshi, Badshah Qureshi and Mir Hassan Jagirani.
Giving further details, the SP has said that 10 days ago, dacoits had intercepted a passenger van in the jurisdiction of Rustam police station and whisked away three passengers namely Asif, Badshah and Umar Qureshi, while on May 2 this year, they had kidnapped Mir Jagirani.
The police official has said that the dacoits were shifting the captives from one place to another in the katcha area when they had an exchange of fire with the police. “Following an encounter, the dacoits left the captives behind and fled,” he has said, adding, “The police have cordoned off the area and are looking for the outlaws.”
The release of captives has made their families ecstatic.
They have thanked the police for their efforts.
