Pakistan has strongly condemned recent terrorist attacks on Wazir Akbar Khan and Sher Shah Suri mosques in Kabul.
Pakistan Foreign Office Spokesperson Aisha Farooqui Sunday said, “These heinous acts resulted in the martyrdom of renowned religious scholars Dr. Ayaz Niazi and Maulavi Azizullah Mofleh, respectively, and claimed the lives of other innocent worshippers. May Allah bless the departed souls.”
“We offer our sympathies and condolences to the bereaved families and pray for early recovery of the injured. We also reaffirm our solidarity with the people of Afghanistan,’ FO Spokespersons said that.
In a testament issued, the spokesmen said, “There can be no justification whatsoever for such inhuman attacks on places of worship. Pakistan reiterates its condemnation of terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.”
It is pertinent to note that a blast in a mosque during Friday prayers in the western part of capital Kabul killed at least four people and wounded at least eight, Afghanistan's interior ministry said.
"Explosives placed inside the Sher Shah Suri Mosque exploded during Friday prayers," said a statement issued by the ministry, which added that the mosque's prayer leader Azizullah Mofleh was among those killed.
No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack but a mosque attack earlier this month was claimed by an ISIL (or ISIS) group affiliate, headquartered in eastern Afghanistan's Nangarhar province.
