PTI MPA Sumaira, AJK Opp leader test positive for coronavirus

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf member of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly (MPA) Dr Sumaira Shams has tested positive for Covid-19 on Sunday.

The MPA said that she got tested after she started showing some symptoms. She has now quarantined herself at home and appealed her supporters to pray for her early recovery.

Dr Sumaira Shams was a PTI MPA on a reserved seat from Lower Dir.

Several politicians and lawmakers have diagnosed COVID-19 positive in tests across the country.

KP Assembly Speaker Mushtaq Ghani has recently tested positive for coronavirus, whereas, his daughter and son-in-law were also detected with COVID-19.

According to the Senate spokesperson, Senator Attaur Rehman, Senator Fida Muhammad, Mirza Afridi and Senator Sana Jamali have been coronavirus positive.

Two former prime ministers, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Yousuf Raza Gilani, PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif, party’s senior leader Ahsan Iqbal, PTI MNA Farrukh Habib, MQM MNA Usama Qadri and Senator Sanaullah Jamali from Balochistan have been detected with coronavirus.

Moreover, 23 members of the Sindh Assembly have also been diagnosed COVID-19 positive after tests.

In another development, Leader of the Opposition in Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK) Assembly Chaudhry Muhammad Yasin has been tested coronavirus positive on Sunday.

He has been the opposition leader in the AJK Assembly since August 2016.

According to 24NewsHD TV channel, former Prime Minister and PPP leader Raja Pervaiz Ashraf has alleged there was no ventilator left in Islamabad hospitals and they were unable to get Ch Mohammad Yasin admitted to a hospital in Islamabad Capital Territory as his health deteriorated due to COVID-19.

As per the statistics, 13 deaths are reported in AJK due to the coronavirus.
