Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Murad Ali Shah said on Monday that from now on businesses would remain closed in the province only on Sundays, and not on two days, as per the decision of National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Chairing the coronavirus taskforce meeting in Karachi, he said all business and commercial activities would continue in the province throughout the week barring Sundays.
He expressed the satisfaction that the detection rate of Covid-19 in Sindh had reached 4.5 per cent, and that hospitals in the province were less burdened these days compared with the last few months.
Murad said 37,105 tests were conducted of the passengers arriving at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport from abroad on June 12 (Saturday), which led to the detection of 80 patients. “Around 50 per cent of the passengers who had tested positive for the virus have recovered so far,” he informed the meeting.
He disclosed that the ratio of fresh cases detected in Karachi on June 13 stood at 9.5 per cent.
He told the meeting that so far 192 people had died from the coronavirus in the provincial capital in June. “Of 3035998 doses of the vaccine received by the Sindh government so far, 2466458 had been administered to the people,” he divulged.
Taking notice of the issuance of the certificate to people without administering the vaccine at Expo Center, the CM directed the provincial IGP and the home department to take strict action against the culprits. “We will not tolerate any corruption or negligence in our battle against the pandemic,” Murad vowed.
Similarly, he directed the IGP to make vaccination mandatory for those obtaining driving licenses.
Likewise, Sindh CM ordered the resumption of classes (from 6th to 8th) with 50 per cent attendance. “And in the event of improvement in the coronavirus situation, primary classes will also resume from 21st of this month,” he directed.
