Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhary Pervaiz Elahi in his inaugural speech of budget FY2021-22 session congratulated the Chief Minister Usman Buzdar and legislators on session in the new building of the Punjab Assembly, reported 24NewsHD TV channel

Punjab Assembly performed outstanding during the coronavirus amid the difficult situations. “Punjab Assembly is the first assembly across the country which made laws and made by-laws for Assembly Secretariat Employees. We also improved the working of the Privileged Committee which is the one of the most important committees of assembly,” PA Speaker added.
He emphasized lawmakers for pro-people lawmaking to provide maximum facilitation for the masses which is the real cause and reason of this new building of Punjab Assembly.
“Pakistan was came into being by choice and by vote but Israel came into being by force,” Speaker PA said.
It is pertinent to note that it was the dream project of Speaker Punjab Assembly Ch Pervaiz Elahi to have a new assembly building for Punjab Assembly.
The foundation stone of the new building of the Punjab Assembly was laid on June 27, 2006 by Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, then chief minister. The project ought to be completed in two years but it was delayed due to unavailability of funds and negligence for 12 years.
New Punjab Assembly’s building beautification and calligraphic work was completed under the supervision of National College of Arts. Reports said that the assembly floor has seating capacity for 422 MPAs and around 800 persons in the Visitors' Gallery.
The new building has offices of the chief minister, Speaker, deputy speaker and opposition leader besides 38 offices for the provincial ministers, three committee rooms and office of the assembly secretary.
