The government says that it is conducting diagnostic tests for the novel coronavirus free of cost in Pakistan.
This was stated by Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Health Dr Zafar Mirza on Saturday.
"Throughout the country, diagnostic tests of the coronavirus are being carried out free [of cost]," he said.
As many as eight government laboratories had been provided kits for conducting coronavirus tests and no fees were charged for the tests, he added.
"Pakistan is one of the few countries in the world that can produce coronavirus kits," Dr Mirza pointed out.
The SAPM also said that 25 hospitals across the country had been designated to treat patients suffering from COVID-19.
The statement came on the day Pakistan reported two new cases of the infection, taking the tally of infected persons in the country to 30.
