Coronavirus: Two dead, 85 infected in India

The number of infected persons in India has risen to 85 while two persons have died after contracting Coronavirus, which has caused widespread infections and deaths all around the world.

A 68-year-old woman died on Friday night due to the deadly coronavirus in New Delhi. Her son was already found positive for the virus as he was traveling to Switzerland and Italy between February 5 and February 22.

Earlier, a 76-year-old man form Kalaburagi, who returned from Saudi Arabia, died from the virus on Thursday.

In order to prevent the spreading of infection, several states like Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Chattisgarh, and Karnataka are shutting down public places like cinema halls, theatres, swimming pools among other public sites.

Special isolation wards have been set up at most of the public hospitals as a precautionary measure.

Health and Family Welfare Department of India's Punjab province has issued a statement saying that "335 passengers with a history of travel to COVID-19 affected countries are untraceable. A total of 6011 passengers have been traced as of March 13."

Rajasthan Chief Minister's Office (CMO) announced that the schools, colleges, coaching centers, gyms, and cinema halls in the state to remain closed till 30th March, as a precautionary measure amid Coronavirus Pandemic. Board examinations that are underway will be held as per schedule. 

"As tourist visas have been suspended, foreign tourist footfall will decrease. Our priority is to follow the instructions of the Health Ministry and take precautions against Coronavirus," said Union Tourism Minister Prahlad Singh Patel.
