‘Hello, Sir! Are you Pemra chairman, you are scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Imran Khan at 5pm today,’ the Prime Minster House operator asked.

All things were good except that he was dialling and inviting a wrong person. Instead of talking to the incumbent Pemra Chairman Saleem Baig, the operator dialled former Pemra chief Absar Alam.

It is pertinent to mention that Absar Alam was removed from his post by the PTI government in 2017.

Prime Minister Office’s operator on Saturday did a mistake when he wrongfully dialled a number of former Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) Chairman Absar Alam and invited him for a meeting with Prime Minister Imran Khan at 5pm.

The PM directed the PM office staff to fix meeting at 5pm today with Pemra chief to discuss Pemra-related issues. But to no avail, the operator picked up the phone and dialled Albsar Alam’s phone number to which Absar explained he is no more incharge of Pemra and the operator is contacting a wrong person.

The operator later accepted his mistake and apologized.
