Prime Minister Imran Khan on Sunday said that the “green” policies of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government are being recognized globally.
In a tweet, Prime Minister Imran Khan while sharing a video by World Economic Forum said “Globally PTI’s environment policies are being recognised esp our green recovery programme from the Covid 19 pandemic and our Climate action plan.”
Back on February 12th this year, the World Economic Forum appreciated the green recovery plan of the PTI government under Imran Khan’s leadership to overcome the environmental crisis.
According to WEF, against this backdrop, the COVID-19 crisis provided an opportunity and Pakistan seized it to break out of the depression and reboot a stressed economy with a “Green Stimulus” focused on two objectives: protecting nature and creating green jobs.
The focal areas for intervention included planting more trees, expanding and reviving our protected areas and improving urban sanitation – all of which could generate quick employment while also allowing the country to come out of the crisis on a nature-positive pathway.
WEF also said that Pakistan carved out an opportunity amidst the crisis, by rebooting the economy with a green stimulus and putting its faith in diverse nature-based financial instruments.
‘Green Pakistan vision will lead to prosperous future’
Parliamentary Secretary for Climate Change Rukhsana Naveed has expressed the government's resolve to fight the climate change effects by planting trees across the country to protect the environment for the future generations.
In a TV interview, she said the “Green Pakistan” vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan aimed at transforming the country into lush green land with a clean environment for people and it was the topmost priority of the government.
The parliamentary secretary said climate change is a real threat to our future generations and it is our collective responsibility to take necessary steps and plant more trees to cope with it.
